FedEx's College Connections interns are assigned to a specific business area and take on project work important to that team, rather than shadowing or performing administrative tasks. Placements are available in areas like human resources, information technology, marketing, engineering, operations, transportation, sales, and finance. Each intern is paired with a senior FedEx team member, who provides guidance on their assigned projects and broader career development.
Beyond individual project work, the program includes group elements like networking events, an executive speaker series, service or community projects, and tours of FedEx facilities. These are intended to give interns a broader view of how the company's network functions beyond their own department. FedEx also runs a related multi-semester engineering co-op program for students in disciplines such as industrial, mechanical, civil, electrical, computer, architectural, and manufacturing engineering, and an HBCU student ambassador program that offers exposure to the company for students at historically Black colleges and universities. Collectively, these programs are positioned as ways for students to gain applied experience alongside professionals while still in school.
To be eligible, a student would have completed 2 years toward a college degree and be enrolled the spring semester preceding and the fall semester following the summer internship. Ideally, the student should be graduating within 12 months of completing the summer internship and available for full-time employment thereafter. Details regarding specific project assignments as well as skills and experience will be included in each job posting.
