Like any law school, the first year is rather demanding. If you're competing for a clerkship, it will be difficult to distinguish yourself among the class on the basis of diligence.

Stanford Law is unlike any other law school in quite a few ways, so make sure to strongly consider your alternatives before making the decision to attend. For example, look at the course schedules online to confirm that they provide the courses that are the most interesting to you. In this vein, remember that Stanford offers extensive international programs, in which you can take courses concerning, e.g., EU or Israeli law.

SLS is amazing, and I would 100% choose to go there if given the opportunity again.

Small is great in a lot of ways. Access to professors, leadership positions, and jobs is all increased by competing with fewer fellow classmates. The smaller size also makes people kinder to one another and creates a small town-like atmosphere. The weather/campus/location also really enhances quality of life, especially if you enjoy outdoor activities.

Being on the West Coast you can feel isolated from the other elite schools and the key markets of NY and DC. Small also isn't great in other ways - fewer classmates, professors, classes, etc. Also, SF is somewhat of a trek and Palo Alto is expensive while lacking nightlife/culture.

I can't imagine a place where it's easier to go to law school. You have every opportunity imaginable while still having a laid back lifestyle.

The school is one of the most generous when it comes to financial aid, whether you are an international student or not. I was very appreciative that SLS offered me a generous aid.

I loved the size of the school and classes - there is a real opportunity to get to know your classmates and teachers well. I also found the emphasis on clinical teaching to be an asset, and encourage all students to take advantage of it.

Small school comes with a certain level of snootiness - makes it harder sometimes to find people you genuinely can connect with.

I don't think you can go wrong choosing Stanford. The name can very much carry you far in your career, and there is a good alumni database as well.

People here are friendly, professors are accessible, students are very intelligent. I love being able to take classes at other schools as well.

There is still a high level of competition. And everything at Stanford expensive. What I like the least about it, however, is that Stanford/Palo Alto is like a "bubble", very small, not much to do.

I would definitely recommend buying a bike. It's the easiest way to get around on campus.

For a school known for its IP curriculum, it has a limited number of IP related courses for offer. Columbia Law School, for instance, seems to have a lot more practitioners offer courses than at SLS.

Best campus ever! The small class size really makes a huge difference. You'll actually get to know your classmates and will actually like them!
