Bracewell LLP is a leading law and government relations firm. We are a firm of choice for sophisticated business transactions, complex disputes and challenging legal and regulatory issues. INVESTING IN YOUR CAREER
Bracewell prides itself as a firm where junior lawyers can build meaningful careers. Our continued success depends on our ability to develop the next generation of Bracewell leaders. From your first day with the firm, you will receive professional development training, mentoring, client contact and constructive performance evaluations that will allow you to grow your career.
Our open and participatory culture gives you the chance to actively contribute to firm life while working alongside leading practitioners invested in your long-term success. You’ll quickly discover that our lawyers are not possessive about client work. We value teamwork over traditional hierarchies to promote a collaborative work environment that fosters hands-on learning and continuous growth.
“For me, this is the absolute best firm I could envision. It combines a practice area, personality, location and international reach that is exactly what I hoped for.” –Bracewell Summer Associate, American Lawyer Summer Associate Survey (2019)
“I am able to work on sophisticated transactions and people who I thoroughly enjoy working with. I am given opportunities daily that allow me to grow as a lawyer and as a professional.”– Bracewell Associate, American Lawyer Midlevel Associate Survey (2019)
ONE BRACEWELL
Within the firm, we frequently talk about “One Bracewell.” The concept refers to three factors that distinguish us from other law firms by promoting a level of commitment in everything we do:
- A shared vision of who we are as a firm and how we see ourselves growing in the future
- An internal culture of trust, respect and collegiality
- The active involvement of our lawyers within the legal profession and local communities

THE BRACEWELL SUMMER ASSOCIATE PROGRAM
Bracewell’s long-term success ultimately depends on our ability to develop and promote exceptional lawyers. Our summer associate program attracts talented law students from diverse backgrounds and experiences interested in pursuing legal careers in one of our core practice areas. Over a two-month period, you will have the opportunity to explore different areas of the law by working on actual matters. Our summer associates attend hearings, depositions, trials, negotiations and client meetings. You also will have the opportunity to hone your legal writing skills by helping research and draft agreements, briefs, articles or blog posts. When not working, you’ll be able to explore the local community and spend time with our lawyers outside the office at lunches, dinners and other events. Our Summer Associate Retreat is another opportunity to be a part of the Bracewell culture. For two days, you’ll be immersed in programming, outdoor activities and networking opportunities to get to know our lawyers and our firm better.
Bracewell kept their 2020 virtual summer associates engaged and entertained. Learn about our Art Night, as featured on Law.com.

Transparency and Connectivity
Bracewell lawyers take the time to get to know each other, both professionally and personally. We enjoy spending time together in ongoing professional develop trainings, practice meetings, strategy retreats, monthly lunches and social events.
Every week begins with a longstanding Bracewell tradition known as the Monday Morning Meeting. Our managing partner kicks off the work week with a firm-wide meeting with lawyers from all 10 Bracewell offices. Lawyers — including associates — give updates on significant client work. Firm leaders also report on our financial performance, policy changes and happenings throughout the firm.
This level of transparency permeates throughout the firm and helps create a collegial environment in which you can build a lasting career. Our recently promoted partners include lawyers who began their legal careers as Bracewell summer associates. We also have a number of “boomerang” lawyers in our associate ranks. These lawyers began their careers at Bracewell, left the firm to pursue professional opportunities in the private or public sector, and eventually returned to Bracewell because of our unique work culture.
“It’s generally a collaborative environment; there is overlap between the practices, and it seems that every Monday morning meeting brings with it new faces.” - Bracewell Associate, Chambers Associate (2019)
Culture of Excellence
Clients expect the best of us. Bracewell, in turn, expects the best from each of our lawyers. Partners and associates alike need to perform at a high level and approach each matter with the highest standard of excellence.
Bracewell’s culture of transparency creates a work environment in which you feel connected to the firm and our clients. Working at Bracewell is more than a job. It’s about being part of a team working toward something special.
Independent legal directories confirm the difference made by Bracewell’s unique culture and commitment to excellence. Publishers such as Chambers and Partners, Legal 500 and IFLR consistently rank our lawyers and practices as industry leaders. These recognitions also include junior lawyers, who consistently are honored as rising stars in their respective practices areas.
For associates starting their careers, this means you will have the opportunity to work and learn from outstanding practitioners in your areas of interest.
Culture of Participation
We encourage — and expect — our lawyers to actively participate in client development, firm life, professional organizations and their local communities.
Each year, Houston associates host a client reception in conjunction with the annual Houston rodeo. Associates take the lead in planning and organizing the event, which allows them to develop professional networks with current and future clients.
Bracewell lawyers also give back to their local communities, participating in the firm-wide Day of Service, for example, organized by the Diversity and Inclusion Committee to commemorate the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service.
You’ll also find our lawyers serving in organizations such as Attorneys Serving the Community, Dallas Regional Chamber of Commerce, Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program, Discovery Green, Downtown Dallas Inc., Feminist Majority, Greater Houston Partnership, Houston Bar Association, MD Andersen, Minute Mentoring©, Saint David’s School, San Antonio Parks Foundation, Texas Law Alumni Association, Texas Medical Center, United Way, University of Houston Law Alumni Association, University of Maryland Board of Trustees, Women in Public Finance, World Affairs Council of Greater Houston and YMCA of Greater Hartford.
