Cahill Gordon & Reindel LLP

Our Survey Says

While the firm is laid back and friendly, Cahill’s clients are anything but—from top financial institutions to multinational corporations, the firm represents high-level clients. Associates should have ambition but also be pleasant and fit into the firm’s social culture. Firm social events are well attended by associates, partners, and staff, and everyone from the top down is respected at Cahill. Leadership at the firm is transparent, and formal and informal feedback is supportive and helpful for associates’ growth. The work flows in a free-market system which allows associates to have control over their own schedules. The lack of a billable hour requirement allows for flexibility and work-life balance. Compensation and bonuses are above market, and associates feel valued and secure at Cahill. Technology is adequate, and the firm provides the tools necessary for associates to seamlessly work from home or the office. The firm has formal training, but informal training and mentoring are where the firm shines—with partners and senior associates taking an active role in associate development. Most partners at the firm are homegrown, so promotion to partner is realistic, but associates also have opportunities to stay at the firm as counsel or go in-house with a firm client. Pro bono work is readily available—from criminal justice to immigration issues to helping veterans and domestic violence survivors—and all pro bono hours count the same as billable hours. Cahill is committed to hiring, developing, and promoting diverse associates and is deeply involved in the community to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts of other organizations.
