Our Survey Says
- “As a summer associate, I received many substantive assignments such as drafting briefs and writing letters to clients. Compared to my friends at other firms, I felt like I was given sufficient autonomy and authority with respect to the assignments.”
- “My experience as a summer associate was fairly similar to my experience as a first-year associate, albeit with a smaller workload. I was provided substantive opportunities, including drafting pleadings and briefs that were filed (as heavily revised) in state and federal court. I handled a few assignments that were of the typical summer ‘make work’ variety (blog posts, 50-state surveys, etc.), but that was a small minority of my assignments.”
- “Generally speaking, it seemed like the tasks given to summer associates were meaningful. That being said, they definitely trended toward being focused on litigation.”
- “There were opportunities every day to interact with attorneys and summer associates. Once per week, we had an event outside of the firm to socialize.”
- “Everyone was very friendly and seemed genuinely interested in getting to know the summer associates. The summer class became close and still gets together for lunch at work and other social events.”
- “Everyone I worked with as a summer was very positive and welcoming.”
- “I found my experiences as a summer associate and first-year associate to be very similar substantively. The summer workload is lower, of course.”
- “The billable hourly requirements were more difficult to meet. The work is also more varied than what I received as a summer associate, though this isn't a negative.”
- “It is hard to gauge at this point, but I think my experience is mostly in line with my expectations going in.”
- “Wine-tasting, chocolate-tasting, karaoke, happy hours.”
- “It is hard to choose one, but probably the trip we took to visit the NYC offices.”
- “Phillies game and bowling.”
- “Nationals game.”
