Virtual Experience Programs. Latham launched a series of Virtual Experience Programs (VEPs) to provide students, as well as anyone interested in big law, exposure to navigating legal issues in a hypothetical transaction or legal matter. The VEPs help demystify the work of a Big Law attorney, and provide a glimpse into life at Latham. These programs are freely available anyone, anywhere, helping to foster the next generation of talented lawyers. Sign up for these complimentary programs now.

Summer Program. Latham's summer program gives you a sense of life as a junior associate at the firm. As a summer associate, you will participate in the firm's Unassigned Program, have an assigned mentor, network and build long-lasting relationships. You will also attend Summer Academy—a highlight of the firm's summer program—where you will join Latham summer associates from across the globe.

  

Pathways Program: 1L Diversity Scholars The firm's Pathways Program for 1L Diversity Scholars provides first year law students with in-depth legal training, mentoring, and real-world experience throughout Latham’s ten week summer program. The program also includes a secondment to the legal department at one of our clients, and an invitation to Latham’s Diversity Leadership Academy.

Practice Group Scholars Programs. Latham’s Practice Group Scholars Programs award select second-year law school students an offer of summer employment, tailored mentoring from a senior lawyer in the applicable practice group, and a scholarship of US$5,000, which is paid upon starting as a full-time associate at the firm. Pathways Program: 2L Diversity Scholars Program. The firm’s Pathways Program for 2L Diversity Scholarship provides in-depth legal training, mentoring, and real-work experience, along with a $50,000 scholarship and, an enrichment experience that includes one of the following: client in-house rotation, pro bono work, international placement, or a special interest project. To build a more inclusive legal community Latham has doubled the 2L diversity scholarship amount, from $25,000 to $50,000, and has significantly increased, from 40 to 50, the number of 2L diversity scholarships awarded for the 2022 summer program.

Diversity Leadership Academy. Join other talented first-year law students from across the US as well as Latham lawyers from around the globe, with a specific focus on developing and empowering future leaders of the legal profession and creating community among the firm's lawyers, recruits, and first-year law student guests.

Ron Brown Scholars Pre-Law Fellowship.  We  developed a Latham & Watkins/Ron Brown Scholars Pre-Law Fellowship, which provides RBS graduates who are entering law school with the opportunity to intern in a selection of our US offices alongside our summer associates, participate in networking and training events (including attending Summer Academy), and gain practical law firm experience. We also sponsor participation in a Law Preview training course for the Fellows, providing them with additional tools to help ensure their success in law school.

Law Preview Scholarship Program. As a student admitted to a select number of law schools, earn a scholarship to attend Law Preview’s week-long preparation course to help guide you on the road to success.

SEO Programs. We’ve partnered with Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) on two programs to support students from underrepresented backgrounds as they pursue careers in the legal industry. The first program offers undergrad students insight into the law school application process, mental health & wellness workshops, and community-building opportunities. The second program provides incoming law students with training and a paid internship.

Judicial Clerks. Latham values your experience as a judicial clerk, and they reward it. Generally, as a clerk from a qualified court, you are eligible for progression credit plus a competitive bonus.
