Linklaters

Our Survey Says

VAULT'S VERDICT:

Hiring at Linklaters is competitive. In general, successful candidates have an international or multicultural background, and the ability to speak multiple languages is looked upon favorably. Genuinely nice people, Linklaters attorneys socialize regularly. Partners are present and engaged, and they are invested in associates’ personal and professional development. The firm offers formal training early on, and partners offer informal training and mentorship. Associates appreciate having level-appropriate assignments and the chance to work on big international projects. The firm offers flexibility in work hours and location, and qualifying firm hours can be applied to the billable hour target. Associates say that the technology at the firm helps them work efficiently and that they are supported by a great tech team and receive a tech budget. The impact of firm wellness efforts, which include mental health programming and resources, is bolstered by a supportive work environment and PTO. Billable credit for pro bono work was recently capped at 400 hours, which has created some disappointment, but associates recognize that this is still a generous allotment. An increase in lateral partner hiring has made internal partnership prospects somewhat less clear, but the culture isn’t up-and-out, and secondment opportunities and senior roles are viable options, as are in-house transitions for those looking for new opportunities.
