Vault’s Verdict
Cognizant is a firm that is in a very interesting position at the moment. Known for its IT outsourcing capabilities, the firm is making a genuine play to become a global, full service solutions provider—a transition that is playing out differently, and at different rates, in various regions of the world. In the US and Europe, for example, the firm is having a reasonable amount of success with its repositioning, while in parts of APAC the process is going more slowly.
As a result, there is some anxiety among some employees within the APAC territory at the kind of opportunities that are available. That, along with the fact that the firm's size makes it very easy to get lost in the crowd, means that Cognizant is a place where a willingness to put yourself forward for opportunities is paramount to building the sort of career you want. Beyond that, however, the firm appears to be a strong employer, with robust training opportunities, a solid brand name that enhances future C.V.s, and a willingness to be flexible when it comes to working arrangements.
