Work Environment
A career as a venture capital principal is fast-paced, sometimes stressful, but usually rewarding. During a typical week, you’ll review dozens of pitches, meet with potential investors, attend board meetings, and spend hours and hours at your desk analyzing target companies, responding to issues at portfolio companies, drafting reports and answering e-mails, and creating financial models. Many principals work 50 to 60 hours a week, including at night and on weekends. Principals travel frequently to meet with current and potential investors and the executives of portfolio companies, as well as to industry conferences, panels, and other events.
