Summer Analyst
Summer Analyst positions in Lazard’s Financial Advisory business in the United States are offered at each of Lazard's nine offices. The goal of the Summer Analyst program is to offer successful candidates a full-time opportunity to join the firm upon graduation.
In New York, Summer Analysts are hired directly into one of the following: Generalist M&A, Restructuring and Capital Solutions, Private Market Advisory, Capital Markets Advisory, Private Capital Advisory. All other U.S. internship programs are defined by industry:
- Austin: Geopolitical Advisory
- Boston:Â Technology
- Charlotte: Private Market Advisory, Consumer, Retail and Leisure
- Chicago:Â Restructuring and Capital Solutions
- Houston:Â Power & Energy - Oil & Gas
- Los Angeles:Â Aerospace and Defense, Interactive Media & Technology Group
- Minneapolis: Business Services, Private Market Advisory
- San Francisco:Â Healthcare, Technology
The 9-week program begins with a one-week formal training session in New York City. This is in addition to pre-work assigned to all interns. Courses will continue throughout the summer within each region, and interns will receive mentors at both the junior and senior banker levels to ensure a robust internship experience. Social events are part of each intern's program, regardless of location, in an effort to better assimilate into the culture of Lazard.
Day-to-day activities of summer analysts vary, but will include: financial analysis and modeling, company and industry research, participating in the development of client presentations, and interactions with senior bankers and clients. The program is customized to ensure a thorough understanding of the firm's offerings.
Summer Associate
Summer Associate positions in Lazard’s Financial Advisory business are offered at each of Lazard's six offices across the U.S. The goal of the internship program is to offer successful candidates a full-time opportunity to join the firm upon graduation.
In New York, summer associates work across different industry groups within M&A and Restructuring (with 1 major and 1 minor concentration). M&A groups include: Consumer/Retail, Financial Institutions, Health Care, Industrials, Power/Energy/Infrastructure, Real Estate, and Telecom/Media/Technology. Opportunities are also available with Shareholder Advisory.

As part of a 10-week program, summer associates participate in a one-week intensive and comprehensive training program in New York City. Summer associates receive both a junior mentor and a senior mentor, along with a dedicated staffer to oversee each individual's internship experience. Additionally, the Summer Associate Program includes various social events with bankers across the firm to provide ample networking opportunities.
Day-to-day activities of summer associates are dependent on their prior experiences and abilities, and may include: financial analysis and modeling, creation and preparation of client presentations, and interaction with clients, among other tasks.
The Summer Analyst program is open to undergraduate students in their junior year. However, interested students who are seniors or enrolled in a Master’s/graduate program are permitted to submit their application, too. Â
Lazard is looking for a top academic performer who is willing to work hard in a formal, unstructured environment. An applicant's educational background may vary, from business through liberal art, but must have a passion for financial concepts and enjoy quantitative work in addition to strategic thinking
