Gilead offers an exciting student internship from its corporate headquarters in Foster City, California. The internship is perfect for students who want to begin their career with a biopharmaceutical company that has been a trailblazer in research for treatments against life-threatening diseases, especially HIV/AIDS. The internship application opens in August, and the cycle runs through January, with the selection process happening in the early spring for the summer session. Sessions last 10-12 weeks.
To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. Interns can work in the following areas: scientific research, communications, corporate finance, human resources, information technology, legal, manufacturing, and operations. Students of any discipline are invited to apply, but some internship areas are better than others for certain areas of study. For example, students studying biology or chemistry should apply to science internships, and public relations majors or business students should go with the finance/business areas. The Gilead internship program offers a great balance between an educational experience and a hands-on one, with students getting to engage in both real, meaningful projects as well as working with their fellow interns and mentors on simply learning the skills and elements that go into a career at a leading biopharmaceutical company.
