About Fox Rothschild
With nearly 1,000 attorneys across 30 offices nationwide, Fox Rothschild offers depth and breadth across a wide range of practice areas and industries. As it continues to grow, the firm is building an impressive client list.
Hailing from the City of Brotherly Love
Fox Rothschild was founded in Philadelphia in 1907. Over the past decade, the firm has expanded to several new regions across the country through mergers and lateral moves, opening offices in Seattle, Boston, Dallas, Chicago, Minneapolis, Oklahoma City, and Sarasota. In 2018, the firm welcomed 130 attorneys in offices throughout the southeast (North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia) through a merger with Smith Moore Leatherwood LLP—the largest combination in firm history to date. Fox Rothschild’s client list includes closely held businesses, small public companies, and tax-exempt organizations, as well as high-net-worth individuals and celebrities and Fortune 500 companies..
Niche
Fox Rothschild is an established player in business, corporate, entertainment, labor and employment, employee benefits, real estate, creditors’ rights, litigation, and estate law. In addition to its mainstream departments, Fox Rothschild has developed niche practices, including entertainment, sports, and the highly regulated fields of federal government contracts, gaming, and cannabis law. The firm recently formalized its services to clients in the areas of investment fund formation and management as well as fintech and digital assets.
Fox Rothschild is leading the pack with its multidisciplinary cannabis practice. The practice consists of nearly 90 professionals across legal disciplines. Its team counsels growers, distributors, processors, investors, and suppliers of ancillary products and services. The group launched a blog called In the Weeds to help keep cannabis entrepreneurs informed on banking, real estate, financing, corporate entity formation and governance, taxation, and creditors’ rights issues that the industry regularly faces.
The firm also formalized a nationwide AI practice that helps clients develop, deploy, and use AI in a responsible, ethical, and legal manner. The team also helps clients navigate the complex data privacy, security, and transparency issues that AI can create, as well as provides guidance on regulatory compliance, contractual agreements, intellectual property protection, dispute resolution and litigation, and AI training and education.
Additionally, the firm formalized a fintech and digital assets practice, which provides a strategic roadmap that clients can use to launch, scale, and safeguard products across the payments, consumer finance, blockchain, and digital asset ecosystem. It also formalized an investment fund formation and management practice that helps fund sponsors and asset managers launch, scale, and manage private funds and other investment funds by delivering practical, market-calibrated advice to their clients starting on day one.

News & Awards
- In a matter that made national headlines, Fox Rothschild represented the family of a 12-year-old Little League player regarding a celebratory bat flip after a two-run homer sparked a disciplinary dispute that ended up in New Jersey Chancery Court. The firm won the order that lifted the one-game suspension imposed.
- Served as legal counsel to CU Capital Management in landmark $89.5 million sale-leaseback transaction with Truliant Federal Credit Union. The sale included Truliant’s headquarters in Winston-Salem, NC, its operations center, and four branches.
- Won a full acquittal for an accountant charged in a sweeping multiple-defendant federal healthcare fraud, tax fraud, and racketeering case in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The trial strategy centered around the fact that the accountant was not involved in any criminality but was simply an outside accountant who relied in good faith on information provided to him by an in-house accounting team.
- Through pro bono representation, Fox Rothschild secured a civil rights verdict for a North Carolina prison inmate who said he was framed by a guard leading to false charges of drug possession. A federal civil jury found the prison guard liable for malicious prosecution in retaliation for the inmate’s refusal to act as snitch and the hearing officer’s refusal to hear his plea of innocence.
