Our Survey Says
VAULT'S VERDICT:
Loeb & Loeb recruits associates with strong academic credentials and work experience. Specifically, in its entertainment practice, several years of experience in the field are necessary. Office settings are enjoyable, and coworkers are supportive and care about one another. Partners are professional and respectful with associates and are engaged in their professional growth. This is where the bulk of the learning takes place, as formal training is limited to CLEs and seminars that associates don’t find as helpful. Lateral integration is an efficient and welcoming process, with assigned guides who help with the transition. Work assignments range from administrative tasks such as proofreading to more meaningful tasks such as drafting documents and interacting with clients. Workflow coordinators help with project distribution so that associates can meet the 1,900-hour billable requirement and maintain work-life balance. Salaries and bonuses are below the prevailing market rate, and it takes as many as 2,300 billable hours for associates to earn a bonus that narrows the gap. Firm technology could be better, but associates acknowledge that the firm is moving in the right direction. Wellness efforts are abundant, with counseling and regular programs on topics such as nutrition and health, mediation, and ergonomic desk sitting. Pro bono work is encouraged and publicized, though hours that count as billable are limited. Associates see promotion to counsel, non-equity partner, and equity partner as realistic options, and many attorneys move on to in-house opportunities.
