About Loeb

Loeb & Loeb is a premier law firm focused on helping organizations and individuals innovate, grow and evolve in a changing world. Our market-leading practice and industry teams deliver practical insight and strategic solutions in complex deals, high-profile disputes, cutting-edge regulatory issues and other matters critical to our clients’ success. We represent a wide range of organizations, as well as high net worth individuals and families. Our lawyers help these clients identify opportunities, expand into new markets, launch innovative products and services, protect assets, resolve disputes, and connect with audiences in new ways. We have tremendous multidisciplinary know-how in today’s technology and mobility trends, which continue to transcend all industries.

Founded in 1909, the firm prides itself on building teams of lawyers who are passionate and intellectually enthusiastic about the law and maintaining the strong and connected culture that we have embraced for over a century. Our firm is focused on establishing and strengthening long-term client relationships while ensuring teams are kept to optimal size to provide the highest quality advice, utmost efficiency, and seamless, cost-effective service across practices and offices.

At Loeb, we focus on building and maintaining a welcoming place to work, where both lawyers and staff enjoy longevity at the firm. We believe that excellence can only be achieved through a culture of collaboration, inclusion and mutual respect for all people. This culture is a fundamental component of our firm’s success.

Who We Hire

With a focus on lateral hiring, we seek experienced candidates who have identified a chosen practice area and who aspire to continue to develop within their field. Successful candidates have strong academic backgrounds, relevant work experience and the desire to be part of a close-knit team. Many of our most successful lawyers possess an entrepreneurial spirit. Those who demonstrate the ability to take on matters beyond their years of experience are given the opportunity regularly.

Professional Development

While associates have developmental opportunities through direct partner contact and informal mentoring, we supplement growth through a series of formal firm-sponsored initiatives: The Loeb Institute, a professional skills series intended for all lawyers, regardless of level and practice area; practical skills training, sponsored by individual departments; access to premier third-party training; client development training opportunities, such as a business development coaching program led by industry experts skilled in advising senior-level associates who are beginning to engage in business development; and more. Our Legal Talent Management Department maintains personal connections with associates in order to proactively identify development opportunities and address needs.

Loeb’s Mentoring Circles provide participants the opportunity to connect with colleagues at various levels and in various offices. Beyond the social aspect of mentoring, our Mentoring Circles allow associates and partners to discuss timely professional skills topics and issues that are essential for contemporary law practice, such as leadership, communication, resilience and grit, and team-building.

As associates advance, Loeb provides a viable path to partnership. For those strong individuals who do not join the partnership ranks, counsel roles are a desirable option.  Associates who depart the firm often transition to general counsel jobs, which may be with clients or government positions.

Diversity & Inclusion

Over the past several years, we have taken great strides in defining our culture of inclusion and working to strengthen our initiatives and programs. The firm’s growth is due to the adoption of our Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) Strategic Priorities and the leadership of the firm’s Diversity Committee, which is comprised of 12 members of the firm’s capital partnership. The focus of the committee is to address substantive topics such as recruitment, retention, promotion and advancement, and to demonstrate how diversity, equity and inclusion supports the firm’s business imperatives. The committee sets the strategy for enhancing diversity at Loeb, implementing and revising the firm’s D&I strategic priorities, and works with firm leadership and affinity groups to strengthen our culture of inclusion and maintain an environment in which all employees have an equal opportunity to flourish.

As a result of the firm’s implementation of its D&I Strategic Priorities and the continued updates to the priorities as the firm evolves, we have seen unprecedented levels of success, including substantial growth in both income and capital partner ranks for partners who are historically underrepresented in law firms. We are also proud to have earned recognition from several organizations, including the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (earned the Top Performer 2023 award), the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index (ranked as a “Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality” for the last five years, as of 2023) and receiving Mansfield Certification each year since the firm began participating in 2022.

In 2024, we remain committed to improving recruitment, retention and promotion of our diverse lawyers and to ensure that our culture and work environment support and encourage diversity in all circumstances and at all levels.

Pro Bono

Loeb’s Pro Bono program provides legal services without charge to those who cannot otherwise afford legal representation. Lawyers working on pro bono matters have full resources and firm support available to them. Over the past ten years, the firm’s contribution to pro bono hours has nearly doubled. Our lawyers work on a wide variety of pro bono projects, including immigration law, civil rights, family law, death penalty cases, veterans’ rights and more. A common theme through many of our pro bono cases has been the support of children and minors in need of legal services. Our work is varied – ranging from representing undocumented children in their asylum cases through partnership with Kids in Need of Defense (KIND) and helping families finalize foster care adoptions with the Alliance for Children’s Rights, to providing pro bono support to the nonprofit Saving Innocence whose mission is to eradicate child sex trafficking. We are proud to partner with a wide variety of local and national public interest organizations on pro bono initiatives to maximize the impact of our work.

Technology

Our Technology department supports the firm's shift towards a more agile work environment. A focus on seamless mobility has provided our team the ability to work efficiently from any location. Similar to our clients and other leading industry professionals, Loeb is shifting toward a greater adoption of legal technology. Whether it’s technology supporting matter-related activities or platforms that promote efficiency in eDiscovery and data analytics, Loeb’s Technology department plays an important role in the firm’s business strategy, client engagement and legal practices.
