Proskauer Impact is our firmwide platform for driving meaningful, measurable change through pro bono work, charitable giving, and community engagement. It brings our people together across practices and offices, in sustained partnership with clients and non-profit organizations, to turn shared values into action that advances justice, expands opportunity, and promotes equality.
This commitment shows up across a broad range of pro bono and CSR work, including fighting food insecurity, supporting veterans, advancing criminal justice, protecting voters' rights, and championing responsible gun laws. Our newest initiative, FutureReady, channels that same spirit of partnership toward career readiness, uniting lawyers, clients, alumni, and non-profit partners to deliver the mentorship and pro bono support that help veterans, students, and adults re-entering the workforce build the skills needed to thrive as the future of work evolves.

Ever upward, ever onward
Judge Joseph Proskauer, the distinguished jurist and name partner who joined the Firm in 1930, embodied this legacy of public service throughout his career. Among Judge Proskauer’s many achievements was his pivotal role at the 1945 United Nations Conference in San Francisco, which led to the adoption of the United Nations Charter and laid the groundwork for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948. But his commitment to progress and public service extended far beyond any single achievement.
Throughout his life, he maintained that the pursuit of equality and individual liberty was not an achievement but an enduring responsibility:
“The doubter may point to the still existing infractions of the liberties of the individual and taunt us with the question, where do we go from here? The answer to that, my dear friends, is that we go ever upward and ever onward, on the path to gain individual liberty against all the forces of bigotry.”
