What qualities do you seek in candidates that would make your firm a good fit for them?
Our firm is progressive and fast-paced. Our attorneys are detail-oriented, industrious, and engaging connoisseurs of Medicaid. Our practice involves the interplay of multiple related areas of law including Medicaid eligibility and reimbursement, administrative appeals, civil litigation, probate and estate claims, and guardianships. Prior experience in one or more of these areas is preferred, but passion, purpose, and curiosity are most important. This job requires tenacity, determination, and perseverance as essential skills for the day-to-day job.
Is there a formal mentoring in place for associates? If so, how does it work?
All new attorneys are provided with a comprehensive onboarding, training and supervision. Senior Partner and Director of Training and Development, Jackie Richardson, oversees the initial training of new associates and pairs each new hire with a seasoned SHG Attorney or Senior Associate as a mentor.
Does the firm offer unique benefits and perks?

What is your approach to fostering diversity and inclusion, and what results have you achieved thus far?
Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are important to Stotler Hayes Group. We are fully committed to diversity and inclusion, and celebrate our differences in race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, disability, socio-economic status, neurodiversity, marital/familial status, military or veteran status, and all other characteristics which make us unique as individuals. We value diversity of thought, experience, and background and believe a diverse and inclusive work environment allows all individuals to thrive, reach their full professional potential, and do great work.
Diversity is our greatest strength. We appreciate and value ideas that come from a diverse work environment and want to bring diversity of thought and experience to everything we do. We believe that an inclusive and equitable work environment provides an atmosphere that allows all individuals to attain their greatest potential and achieve the best outcome for our clients. Affirming our beliefs is not enough. We will act intentionally to foster a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community that encourages, respects, supports, and celebrates the diverse voices of our employees and partners and enables everyone to flourish. These values must be incorporated into all aspects of our work including advocacy, communications, client relations, hiring, retention, and promotion practices, vendor selection, and workplace environment in order to uphold our values and achieve meaningful change in our firm, the broader legal community, and the communities where we live and work.
Diversity Lab has announced that we are one of 26 midsize law firms to have achieved the inaugural Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification. We are proud to have completed a rigorous 18-month collaboration with Diversity Lab — beginning in September 2020 — to track, consider, measure, and achieve diversity in leadership.
The Midsize Mansfield Rule Certification measures whether law firms with approximately 25 to 150 lawyers have affirmatively considered at least 30 percent women lawyers, underrepresented racial and ethnic lawyers, LGBTQ+ lawyers, and lawyers with disabilities for lateral openings, leadership and governance roles, equity partner promotions, and formal client pitch opportunities. As of May 4, 2022, 66 percent of Stotler Hayes Group associates are historically underrepresented lawyers.
Achieving Mansfield Certification strongly aligns with our core values and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
