Bates White does a fantastic job in formally training staff coming into the firm out of undergraduate or graduate institutions. There is a litany of training meant to acclimate employees to the world of economic consulting and equip them with the tools to succeed. The firm also offers periodic training to bolster technical skills in less relied upon areas (such as software packages used in more niche circumstances) and situational awareness/soft skills required to act appropriately in today's professional environment (diversity & inclusion training, unconscious bias training, etc.). The firm is also growing its catalog of web-based resources for those with spare time, subscribing to LinkedIn Learning and other online repositories of classes and lessons.

The one area where the firm is still rounding out its training is with regards to senior management. I was promoted into management almost 8 years ago now, and back then there wasn't much in the way of formal training for the managerial challenges I would encounter. In more recent years the firm has shown a firm commitment towards seeking out and establishing training for managers and more senior employees.

But the reason I have excelled is because of the informal training at Bates White, which is incredibly robust. Sharing successful strategies and providing constructive feedback is just part of the firm's DNA.
