Doll designers and makers do not belong to unions. There are many local and regional doll-making and designing groups throughout the country. A few organizations bring together those interested in doll design, creation, and collecting on a national and international basis. The National Institute of American Doll Artists offers conferences, academies, and classes, as well as a summer doll-making school for individuals interested in learning dollmaking techniques. The International Doll Makers Society brings together doll makers and doll artists from all over the world at its annual convention. The Industrial Designers Society of America offers information on education and careers in industrial design.
