Private Equity Accountants and Auditors

Outlook

Job opportunities for accountants and auditors who work for funds, trusts, and other financial vehicles will increase by 9.7 percent (much faster than the average for all occupations) from 2023 through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). A complex tax and regulatory environment and an uptick in globalization are propelling growth. Although conditions are favorable for those entering the field, competition for positions with the most prestigious businesses and accounting firms was expected to be strong. CPAs and professionals with similar professional recognition, and those holding graduate degrees, will have the best prospects.

The DOL says that "some routine accounting tasks may be automated as platforms such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and blockchain become more widespread. Although it will increase accountants' efficiency, this change is not expected to reduce overall demand. The automation of routine tasks, such as data entry, will instead make accountants' advisory and analytical duties more prominent."
