Private equity financial managers do not belong to unions. Many join professional associations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association for Financial Professionals, Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Financial Executives International, Financial Management Association International, Institute of Management Accountants, Association of Corporate Treasurers (formerly the National Association of Corporate Treasurers), and the Private Equity CFO Association. These organizations provide everything from networking opportunities and job-search advice, to certification and continuing education, to publications and annual conferences. The American Investment Council (AIC, formerly the Private Equity Growth Capital Council) and Global Private Capital Association (GPCA, formerly the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association) are membership organizations for private equity firms, limited partners, fund managers, and related entities. The AIC's Web site (https://www.investmentcouncil.org) features industry statistics and videos that explain the basics of private equity. The GPCA also offers industry statistics, as well as information on continuing education webcasts and conferences, at its Web site, https://www.globalprivatecapital.org.
