Venture Capital Investor Relations Specialists

Unions and Associations

Venture capital IR specialists do not belong to unions. The National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) is a major membership organization for investor relation specialists, although it reports that only 11 percent of its members are employed in the finance industry. Members receive a monthly magazine; access to a sample document library (e.g., guidance for corporate disclosure, model job descriptions, and sample investor relations plans); free webinars; discounts on conferences, seminars, and webinars; and other benefits. The Canadian Investor Relations Institute is a membership organization for IR professionals in Canada. The work of investor relations specialists also requires considerable knowledge of marketing and public relations, so membership in the American Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America will also be useful. The National Venture Capital Association is a major trade organization for venture capital firms. It has about 300 members.
