The Makings of a Mega Firm
In early 2017, Eversheds Sutherland was formed through the combination of the U.S. firm Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP and the U.K. firm Eversheds LLP. Sutherland, formed in 1924 by William Sutherland, a former clerk to Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, and Elbert Tuttle, began as a tax firm. After World War II, the firm began expanding practice areas to become a full-service firm.
On the other side of the pond, Eversheds traces its roots to the founding of Evershed & Tomkinson Solicitors in Birmingham in 1914. In the late 1980s, the modern incarnation of the firm was formed through a multiparty merger of several U.K. regional practices.

We are filling existing positions by hiring lateral associates and we are building a pipeline for future associates by hiring summer associates. We encourage candidates across all positions to apply with us directly. We are also participating in virtual OCI at various law schools. Essentially, we will continue to grow and evolve.
