Most fashion coordinators work in comfortable, well-lit offices. However, their duties also take them outside of the office. Many times, coordinators must go to different departments or boutiques to choose clothing and accessories for a show from various fashion lines. They often travel to other cities and countries to meet with designers, attend shows, or visit other store locations. Fashion coordinators work 40 hours a week, though it is not unusual to work a lot of overtime, especially when a fashion show is scheduled. Weekend work is expected so that deadlines can be met.
This job, like most in the industry, is in a creative and artistic atmosphere. Fashion coordinators should be prepared to work with a diverse group of people, such as designers, models, stylists, and CEOs. They should be able to deal with different types of personalities and varying sizes of ego.
