Venture Capital Marketing Specialists

Outlook

Employment for market research analysts and marketing specialists is expected to be good through 2029, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Market research analysts will have 18 percent job growth in that time frame, due to the increased use of data and market research across many industries. Marketing managers will have 7 percent employment growth through 2029. Those with a master's degree who are well versed in digital media and social media will have the best job prospects.

The coronavirus pandemic has affected many industries in 2020, but venture capital firms have been resilient throughout, experiencing only a slight decline in venture capital activity in the first half of 2020. Venture capital workers have been able to continue business operations remotely, and employment opportunities are expected to pick up starting in 2021. There will continue to be demand for venture capital marketing specialists. In recent years, major VC firms such as Draper Fisher Jurvetson; Kleiner Perkins; and True Ventures have added dedicated marketing and public relations to their staffs. Venture capital firms are also touting their in-house marketing, public relations, and communications experience as a means to convince hot start-ups to accept their funding.

The Jumpstart Our Business Startups Act (commonly known as the JOBS Act), enacted in 2012 to allow VC firms to advertise and perform general solicitations, has also been helping to increase marketing efforts at some firms.
