Employment for compliance professionals will be strong during the next decade as a result of increasing government regulation of the financial services industry. In its 2020 Salary Guide Accounting & Finance, Robert Half noted that “hiring is ramping up across the financial services industry, especially for job candidates with experience in banking and financial markets, risk and compliance, and operations. Firms look for professionals who can help them keep current with the European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other global and domestic regulatory standards regarding privacy and data ownership. They also seek candidates with information security experience to assist with cybersecurity initiatives. Financial and regulatory analysts, compliance officers, and internal auditors are in demand as a result.” Those with a law degree or a master’s degree, certification, and extensive experience will have the best job prospects.
