“You get to use your science background along with smart and lovely people”

the people and how much I get to use my science background. Even as an entry-level employee, I feel like I am making a difference to our clients.

Downers

Honestly I'm pretty happy here so far. I don't have complaints. Recruiting experts is kind of boring, but we have case team assistants to take care of scheduling, which I think other firms may not have to the same degree.

Advice to Candidates

I chose HA over several other healthcare consulting job offers, including higher-paying ones, and I have never regretted that decision for a second. The people are super nice and fun to work with and the firm really cares about its employees. I work about 50 hours per week and almost never have to travel. I also love my colleagues so much that we spend significant time together outside of work--for instance, we went on a ski trip recently--and have become quite close in a relatively short period of time. The training and mentoring programs are also very thorough, and I get plenty of facetime with senior management--who are also very friendly and encouraging. I have never felt left behind or like no one cares about my work. I have also had ample and challenging opportunities to use my science background and have enjoyed many stimulating discussions with some of the firm's many PhDs and MDs throughout my work. I have not only gotten to use my biology background but have also learned a lot of new biology through my casework. Another great thing about HA is the fact that we have Case Team Assistants to deal with scheduling experts and other logistical stuff, so that, as an analyst, I can spend more time doing actual casework. I have also had opportunities to have face time and speaking time with clients even as an analyst, which I did not expect and really appreciate. This has happened on multiple cases in which, during the duration of the case, I became somewhat of a "team expert" on certain points (especially scientific points) of the case, about which I would answer client questions.
