Adventure travel specialists develop, plan, and lead people on tours of unfamiliar places and activities. Most adventure travel trips involve physical participation and/or a form of environmental education. Some examples of adventure travel are a whitewater rafting trip, a mountain climbing expedition, or a safari. Organized adventure travel has grown rapidly in popularity over the past few decades. Adventure travel specialists are also known as adventure outfitters, adventure travel guides, adventure travel planners, ecotourism specialists, and trip planners.
