Comic Book Artists

Unions and Associations

The National Cartoonists Society represents more than 500 of the world’s major cartoonists who work in a variety of professions, including comic books, editorial cartoons, animation, and more. Membership is limited to established professional cartoonists. The Society of Illustrators offers cartoonist members educational programs, networking opportunities, and art competitions and awards. Cartoonists also receive career support and resources through membership to groups such as the Graphic Artists Guild, the Freelancers Union, and AIGA, the professional association for design. Comic book artists may also join the Writers Guild of America, a labor union that represents creators of what’s seen or heard on TV and film, as well as digital media content.
