Motion Graphics Artists

Overview

Motion graphics designers (MGAs) develop, animate, and create motion graphics assets (those that create an illusion of motion, transformation, or rotation) for the Web, television, film, advertising, and other sectors. The field incorporates traditional typography and design techniques with traditional film, animation, and video techniques. Some call motion graphics animated graphic design because text is often a major component of the finished product. Examples of motion graphics include the opening storyline of the original Star Wars movies (in which text scrolls across a backdrop of stars), spinning logos for some television networks, the opening intro for a new iPhone app, and the text and moving images in explainer videos and short web films. Motion graphics designers are also known as motion designers and motion graphics designers.
