Digital Designers

Overview

Digital designers use computer tools and software to create artwork, designs, interactive online content, e-books, digital advertisements, and Web sites for corporations, nonprofit organizations, and government agencies. They manipulate different typefaces, font sizes, colors, images, and drawings for use in Web pages, multimedia, and interactive media.

Some digital designers specialize in a particular format or use. For example, Internet advertising designers use animation, sound, and text to create advertisements for Web sites and other digital venues. Interface designers create icons, menus, and other interactive features for Web sites with the goal of easy customer interface with the particular site. Flash designers create interactive online content such as games, advertisements, introductions, and other Internet applications for Web sites. Game designers create computer and video games. Digital designers may also be known as graphic artists, graphic designers, and multimedia designers. There are approximately 290,100 graphic designers (including those who specialize in digital design) in the United States.
