Earnings

Dealers working in casinos are generally hourly wage workers. Earnings can vary greatly depending on a number of factors including the specific casino in which the individual works and the geographic location as well as the individual's experience. In addition to salary, dealers, like many other casino employees, may also receive benefits. They also receive tips.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) in 2023 the median annual wage for dealers was approximately $32,240 (or $15.50/hour). The median wage is the wage at which half the workers in an occupation earned more than that amount and half earned less. The lowest 10 percent earned less than $21,410 ($10.29/hour), and the highest 10 percent earned more than $75,200 ($36.16/hour). Fifty percent of dealers earned between $23,350 and $47,010 (or $11.23 and $22.60/hour)

It should be noted that while the BLS details the base salary of dealers, a significant portion of dealer's income comes from tips. Earnings from tips are dependent on a number of factors including the size, location, and prestige of a casino as well as the dealer's experience and personality. In some casinos, dealers pool their tips with all the dealers. In others, each dealer keeps tips he or she earns. Additionally, as casinos are busiest on weekends, evenings and holidays, dealers who work these shifts will generally have higher tips. Individuals who can make the gaming experience fun and exciting to patrons also receive larger tips.
