Hedge Fund Compliance Professionals

Unions and Associations

Hedge fund professionals do not belong to unions, but some join professional associations. The Alternative Investment Management Association offers continuing education and other resources to its members (e.g., hedge fund managers, fund of hedge fund managers, prime brokers, fund administrators, independent fund directors). Its membership comprises 2,100 corporate members (with more than 20,000 individual contacts) in more than 60 countries. The Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics, which has more than 7,000 members, offers continuing education, certification, networking opportunities, and other resources. The Regulatory Compliance Association provides membership, certification, and professional development opportunities. It has more than 80,000 members. The Association of Women in Alternative Investing and the Women’s Association of Venture and Equity are membership organizations that advocate to increase the number of women in the hedge fund and other alternative investment sectors. The Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association—which represents the interests of securities firms, banks, and asset managers—has a Compliance and Legal Society for individual members.
