The U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) predicts that employment of librarians will grow about as fast as the average for all careers through 2033. Employment opportunities for qualified library directors should be good. Although library directors will be in demand in a variety of library settings, good opportunities for library professionals will exist in nontraditional settings such as private corporations, nonprofit organizations, and consulting firms. As always, library directors with the most education and experience will have the best employment opportunities.
