Outlook
Employment of athletes will grow much faster than the average for all occupations through 2033, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The outlook for professional athletes will vary depending on the sport, its popularity, and the number of positions open with professional teams. On the whole, the outlook for the field of professional sports is healthy, but the number of jobs will not increase dramatically (unless new sports leagues are launched or current leagues expand) and competition will be keen. Some sports, however, may experience a rise in popularity, which will translate into greater opportunities for higher salaries and commercial endorsements.
