Fitness directors, also known as fitness and wellness coordinators, organize and schedule exercise classes and programs for health clubs, resorts, cruise lines, corporations, and other institutions. They work with other fitness professionals, such as personal trainers, nutritionists, and health care personnel, to deliver the best services for the individuals who use the fitness facility. Fitness directors must balance the needs of their staff with the needs of the paying customers. To do this, directors listen to suggestions from staff and clients regarding program changes or additions, instructor criticisms, and any other comments to make sure the fitness facility runs smoothly and paying customers are happy.
