Wealth Management Lawyers

Unions and Associations

Wealth management lawyers do not belong to unions, but many join professional associations that offer networking opportunities, continuing education (CE) classes and webinars, career assistance, specialty membership groups, publications, and other resources. Many legal professionals join the American Bar Association, one of the world’s largest voluntary professional organizations with nearly 400,000 members. It accredits law schools; offers educational and career information; publishes journals such as Business Lawyer, Student Lawyer, and ABA Journal; and has an Institutional Investors Committee, Young Lawyers Division, and Business Law Section. The Association of Corporate Counsel is a membership organization for in-house counsel in the United States and more than 50 other countries. It publishes ACC Docket and the Chief Legal Officers Survey, offers information on careers, hosts an annual meeting, and provides professional development opportunities. The Association of American Law Schools, a nonprofit association of 176 law schools, offers information for prospective law students at https://www.aals.org/prospective-law-students. The American Bankers Association offers a variety of resources for those engaged in the practice of banking law, including Banking Docket and professional development classes and webinars. The Law School Admission Council and the National Association for Law Placement also provide many resources for law students and lawyers. Other useful organizations include the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, and the National Association of Women Lawyers.
