According to the U.S. Department of Labor Employment and Wage Statistics, the median hourly earnings of Agricultural Equipment Technicians were $23.66 an hour, or $49,210 per year, in May 2023. The department also reported that the lowest-paid 10 percent earned $16.76 an hour, or $34,870 per year, while the highest-paid 90 percent earned $34.83 an hour, or $72,450 per year.
As with most salaries, the salary that technicians eventually receive depends on individual ability, initiative, and the supply of skilled technicians in their field or locality. There is an opportunity to work overtime during planting and harvesting seasons.
In addition to their salaries, most technicians receive fringe benefits such as health and retirement packages, paid vacations, and other benefits similar to those obtained by engineering technicians. Technicians employed in sales are usually paid a commission in addition to their base salary.
