Employment Firm Workers

Outlook

Employment of human resources specialists is projected to grow 8 percent, faster than the average for all careers, through 2033, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). However, because of the increased use of computerized job matching and budgetary considerations, the demand for employment workers, specifically, has lessened. Nevertheless, there will still be job opportunities in this field. Employers are now more aware of the benefits of using employment firms to find part-time and temporary workers to help fulfill short-term assignments or to launch new projects.

Jobs in the employment field are protected somewhat against changes in the economy. If the economy is growing and businesses are expanding, companies will use employment firms to fill existing positions. If there is a downturn in the economy, more job seekers will use these firms to improve their job prospects. However, employment firm workers are affected by the downsizings, consolidations, and mergers that occur more frequently during economic recession. In general, job prospects will be greatest in large urban areas, where there are more jobs and a higher degree of job turnover.
