Military recruiters, sometimes known as recruiting specialists, provide information regarding service, training, and career opportunities to people interested in joining a branch of the military. They represent the military at job fairs and career programs, and with community and school groups. Their duties include interviewing, screening, testing, and counseling possible candidates. Recruiting managers direct recruiters, plan recruiting programs, and prepare reports for commanders that detail the progress of their recruiting programs. Opportunities are available in all five military branches. More than 1.3 million active duty personnel served in the armed forces as of June 2019, with 468,783 in the Army; 330,949 in the Navy; 327,039 in the Air Force; 186,814 in the Marine Corps; and 41,250 in the Coast Guard.
