Human Resources Managers

Human resources (HR) managers oversee the administrative functions of HR departments. These include recruiting employment candidates and managing the hiring process, working with executives on strategic HR planning, training employees, and serving as liaisons between employees and management. At large companies, HR managers oversee employment interviewers, placement specialists, personnel recruiters, compensation and benefits managers, and other specialized staff. At small companies, a human resources manager may fill all of these roles, often with help from one or two assistants. Human resources managers are also known as directors of human resources. Approximately 152,100 HR managers are employed in the United States.
