Earnings for HR managers vary widely depending on the nature of the organization (e.g., the number of employees, annual revenue, geographic location), as well as on the individual's qualifications and experience.

Human resources managers earned median annual salaries of $136,350 in May 2023, according to the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL). Ten percent earned less than $81,060. The DOL reports that HR managers earned the following mean annual salaries by employer:

  • motion picture and video industries: $236,420
  • computer and peripheral equipment manufacturing: $231,160
  • computer systems design and related services firms: $183,570
  • local government agencies: $127,500
