Much of the world's population relies on traditional (alternative) medicine as their primary form of health care, although it remains a complementary form of care in the United States. Since homeopathy can be combined with a variety of health care professions, many practitioners are learning it and including it among other healing approaches they use. Interest in homeopathy is expected to grow with the population and as acceptance of alternative medicine becomes more widespread. Strong criticism of homeopathy from scientists and medical researchers, however, may dampen growth.
