Hypnotherapists

Earnings

Salaries for people who do hypnosis for a living vary widely. The average rate charged by a hypnotherapist is $75 to $125 per hour, but it may be higher depending on his or her experience and ability. According to an article from the American Association of Professional Hypnotherapists (AAPH), if a hypnotherapist works three hours a day with clients during the workweek, he or she could earn approximately $60,000 a year. Hypnotherapists can also add to their earnings by leading group sessions, workshops, and classes. By leveraging their knowledge and experience, a hypnotherapist can earn more than $100,000 a year.

The AAPH reports that "some hypnotherapists offer pay-one-price programs—for smoking cessation, for example, where you pay $300 or $400 for all the sessions in the program."

ZipRecruiter.com reports that certified clinical hypnotherapists earned salaries that ranged from $30,000 to $187,500 in 2024. They earned average salaries of $72,002.

PayScale.com reports that certified clinical hypnotherapists earned average salaries of $80,000 in 2024.

Salaries vary widely based on location, employer, and experience. Many people practice hypnotherapy part time while others combine it with another job.

Hypnotherapists who work for an established hospital, school, or other company generally enjoy a full complement of benefits, including paid vacation time, sick days, and medical and dental care. Self-employed practitioners must take care of their own benefits.
