Few people are hired for head equipment manager jobs without first obtaining experience as an assistant equipment manager or working in related positions.
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to get along with many people are critical qualities for equipment managers. Managers must also be able to handle criticism, be creative and responsible, and have some basic computer skills. Sports equipment managers must also be willing to work overtime during the relevant sport's season.
