Tire Technicians

Exploring This Job

Students can get a general overview of the tire industry by reading, the TRA Year Book (an annual publication from the Tire and Rim Association (TRA) and the magazine Tire Review (https://www.tirereview.com). Additionally, the U.S. Tire Manufacturers Association offers Tires 101 (https://www.ustires.org/tires-101), a webpage that provides detailed information about how tires are manufactured.

A high school science teacher or your school's career services office may also be able to arrange a presentation by an experienced tire technician. Students may gain indirect experience by working part time or in the summer at a plant where tires are manufactured and tested.
