Wealth Management Investor Relations Specialists

Unions and Associations

Wealth management investor relations specialists do not belong to unions, but there are many IR, marketing, public relations, finance, and banking associations in the United States and throughout the world that provide useful resources to aspiring and current IR professionals. For example, the National Investor Relations Institute (NIRI) offers membership for IR specialists who work in the United States. Members receive IR Update, NIRI’s flagship monthly magazine; discounts on conferences, seminars, and webinars; access to eGroups, NIRI’s private social networking forum; access to a sample document library (e.g., guidance for corporate disclosure, model job descriptions, and sample investor relations plans); and free webinars. The Canadian Investor Relations Institute is a membership organization for IR professionals in Canada. It offers a mentorship program that links new IR professionals with experienced practitioners, publications such as IR leader, an annual conference, and the certified professional in investor relations credential. The CFA Institute offers certification and continuing-education opportunities. The American Bankers Association, American Marketing Association, and the Public Relations Society of America also provide many useful resources.
