Fire protection engineers earned median incomes of $119,822 in 2023, according to a compensation survey by the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). They also received an additional $8,178 in bonuses, commissions, and other non-salary compensation. The SFPE received survey responses from participants in 93 countries; 67 percent of respondents were from North America. The SFPE says that the "vast majority of respondents receive medical benefits, dental benefits, flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement and bonuses." In general, salaries for fire protection engineers range from $50,000 to more than $150,000.
