The U.S. Department of Labor reports that the median annual earnings of recreational therapists (a career that includes horticultural therapists) were $57,120 in May 2023. Salaries ranged from less than $37,960 to $92,080 or more a year. Fifty percent of recreational therapists earned between $46,420 and $73,150.
Horticultural therapists earned average salaries of $80,600 in 2024, according to PayScale.com. Earnings ranged from $62,483 to $105,186 or more.
Benefits will depend on the employer but generally include standard ones, such as paid vacation and sick days and health insurance. Those who work as independent consultants must provide their own health insurance and other benefits.
