Unions and Associations
Some library media specialists may be members of the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees. Many library media specialists belong to trade associations that offer useful resources and professional support (e.g., conferences, publications, continuing education). These include the American Association of School Librarians, American Library Association, Association for Educational Communications and Technology, Association for Information Science and Technology, Association for Library Service to Children, and the Young Adult Library Services Association.
