Those who worked in scientific research and development services had annual mean earnings of $111,610; and those who worked in pharmaceutical and medicine manufacturing averaged $109,680 per year.
Salaried medical scientists who work for a company usually receive benefits such as vacation days, sick leave, health and life insurance, and a savings and pension program. Self-employed medical scientists must provide their own benefits.
